17 Nights: Sunday 25 August – Thursday 12 September 2024
One island, two countries. Spectacular landscapes and stunning scenery. Tens of thousands of years of history and pre-history, a turbulent recent past and a bright future. Warm, inviting people with a distinctive culture, and home to many New Zealanders’ ancestors. Great food, drink and ‘craic’. Ireland packs a lot into an area that’s only twice the size of Canterbury. On this tour you’ll discover the whole island: both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. You’ll start by exploring Ireland’s capital, Dublin, before roaming anticlockwise around the island and ending in Belfast in Northern Ireland. Along the way you’ll visit many must-see historical sites as well as hidden gems, charming towns, music-filled pubs and dramatic landscapes. You’ll delve into the fascinating but sometimes dark history of the island.
The Emerald Isle is rich in culture, wild landscapes and hearty foodie delights. From enjoying a pot of Irish stew to sampling Guinness or whiskey, whether exploring Ireland’s wild outdoors or visiting regal castles, you’ll be met with charm and intrigue aplenty. Aside from the endless photo opportunities, you’ll discover an island nation proud of its rich heritage and culture.
You’ll be part of a small group and all arrangements will be taken care of. Moving at a relaxed pace, there will be plenty of leisure time for you to explore your own interests: find some live music, take a walk or explore where your ancestors might have lived. You can also spread your wings now long-distance travel is back on the agenda, and perhaps add on other travel in the UK or Europe.
