Calder & Lawson Tours is a New Zealand owned and operated company with 30 years’ experience of operating tours and arranging international travel. Our unique itineraries take you off the beaten path to reveal new insights about a destination. On our tours, people have fun and many return home having made new friends.
When you travel with Calder & Lawson Tours, you will be well looked after from the moment you contact us throughout the entire journey. This allows peace of mind and takes the hassle out of travelling. We have a number of solo travellers and they appreciate the fact that they feel safe and secure but also included in all activities.
Our tour managers are selected for their knowledge, travelling experience and ‘people skills’. We also have local guides all over the world who we have worked with for many years and who we know will include experiences which people would struggle to find on their own.
Our tours are good value. The price includes almost everything; airfares, accommodation, tips, group transfers, breakfasts and many lunches and dinners. You will not be surprised by hidden costs while you are on tour.
We offer over 20 tours each year and hope you will find a tour to tempt you to travel. Call one of our experienced and well-travelled consultants on 0800 853 276 to answer your questions about our tours.

Traveling to Borneo in 2019 with Calder & Lawson Tours was a first with this company. From first contact, 17 days of tour, 12 days of ‘add-ons’; our journey went without a hitch. Their staff live and breathe travel; and that enthusiasm is shared with their clients. Our next holiday with C & L was booked within a month of returning home.

I returned knowing I’d got my adventurous life back after being relatively immobile for several years. The bike tour with Leen and Di enabled me to regain strength and confidence. The tour managers were very kind and patient which I greatly appreciated. I returned home a stronger and more energetic person. Thank you to the team at Calder & Lawson Tours.

I appreciate that I always was able to talk to someone on the phone and get answers to any queries cheerfully and quickly.

It was very interesting to travel in two such diverse countries, so close geographically and so different culturally, linguistically and historically. Stand-out moments were staying in Sintra and at the Quinta de la Rosa in Portugal and the Berber tents at Merzouga, the camel ride up the dunes for the sunrise and the gardens and meals at the beautiful La Roseraie in Ouirgane.

I love travelling by ship, but not on a floating mega-hotel. This trip gives the rare option of a working ship going to exotic places.

I thought the tour was great. Well organized, very well escorted. It was nice to relax and not have to worry about anything. Tips and gratuities being taken care of was very helpful. Having guides well versed in knowledge of their countries and history. The size of the group and the people in the group were great. I loved the group dinners and food.

Yet again C&L Tours have surpassed themselves in providing an adventure for seniors that surpasses expectations. After a very hesitant start for the bike and barge tour in Europe last year after two hip replacements the year before, I’ve been delighted with the confidence that installed remained and went from strength to strength this trip – with the undoubted help of an e-bike of course.

We like small group travels with Kiwis and lead by good kiwi tour leaders. C&L Tours ticks this box for us.

I enjoyed the variety of experiences offered, and how these built upon one another to create an understanding of Japanese culture, past and present. I hadn’t done a walking tour previously and, even with some pre-trip training, was a little concerned about my level of walking daily fitness, but I was comfortable with the walks.

We very much enjoyed the Calder & Lawson Tours Borneo trip. It was a well designed and well organised trip and gave a good opportunity to learn of the history, people and wildlife of this unique island. Thanks to our guide Kevin.

Calder & Lawson’s tour, Alpine Walks in Three Countries, exceeded my expectations in every respect, particularly with regards to the leadership of the group and their attention to detail which made the trip stress-free and enjoyable.

This was a well organised trip with a great leader who went out of his way to make sure everyone was happy. There were no hidden costs. Would encourage anyone who enjoys wildlife to do this trip.

The relaxing Pandaw cruise at the end of some big bustling cities. Up to the usual standard with food, drinks, staff and on shore excursions. Love it!

Seeing largely unspoiled landscape and people was the best thing about the tour for me. I really enjoyed this part of China – the very friendly people and their traditions. Our guides were second to none!
