Escorted Walking & Cycling Tours for Small Groups
Launched in 2000, walking tours are becoming more and more popular and complement our other tours. Over the last few years, we have gradually grown our selection of cycling tours, adding to the range of experiences for the active traveller. Neither boot camp nor ‘Tour de France’ experiences; these tours offer another way to enjoy and connect with a destination. All of our walking and cycling tours are accompanied by well trained and experienced tour managers and local guides.
Walk and explore attractive and contrasting areas of a particular country. Keep packing and unpacking to a minimum with some of our walking tours which spend up to a week in each area in comfortable country hotels chosen as appropriate bases. Other tours are more ‘on-the-go’ but still keep to a comfortable pace and stay in well-appointed comfortable hotels with a local flavour. The tours build in many opportunities to sample the cuisine and wine of the country and region. Our walking tours vary in the level of fitness required so you can choose from leisurely walking to more demanding treks. Transport is used to take you to the start of, and from the end of, many of the day walks. This allows us to offer you walks which would be hard to get on your own.
Again, these escorted tours allow you to explore the contrasting areas of a country or region. Although designed for the ‘casual’ cyclist, the ability to ride a bicycle proficiently is required. These relaxed itineraries take you off the beaten path to explore small villages and to meet the local people. Bicycles and helmets are included, and a support vehicle follows you on all rides. We have recently introduced bike and barge tours which again keep unpacking and hassle to a minimum. As with all Calder & Lawson Tours, there is always the opportunity to discover the culture, history and cuisine of a particular destination.
