Explore the countryside and small villages of a region steeped in history by bike during the day and then return to the comfort of your barge, where a delicious meal will be waiting for you.
You will live aboard a comfortable river barge with en-suite accommodation. Unpack once and enjoy fantastic, easy cycling and follow it up with relaxed evenings and great food on board at the end of each day. Your journey starts as you sail up the Seine right through the heart of Paris and then on through Picardie, the northern province of France, which was once the cradle of the Gothic period. The area around the river Somme carries the scars of the Great War, which are visible in many of the little towns you will pass through.
You will have a day off the bikes on a guided tour of the battlefields that Kiwi soldiers fought on. Spend a night in Tournai, the oldest city and one of the most important cultural sites in Belgium, before travelling to romantic Bruges on Belgium’s coast. Bike on towpaths, small country roads and paved forest trails. You will have a full day and night to enjoy Bruges.
An optional post tour extension to ride the Adige bike trail in Austria and Italy is also available should you wish to extend your time in Europe.

Fitness Requirements
Moderate | 3-5 hr/day | 35-60km/day | Undulating terrain, with the occasional longer or steeper climb. Terrain may vary from paved, to gravel to hard packed dirt. Moderate climbing on shorter rides, little climbing on longer rides. Moderate + is quite a bit of climbing. Suitable for bikers with experience over different terrains. E bikes are recommended
