Following the Orient Express September 2019

Enjoy the romance of a train journey that began in 1893. There probably won’t be a murder but there’s sure to be some magic! Your journey follows the route of the famous Orient Express in a ‘do it yourself’ way with a tour manager who has travelled this route. Beginning in Paris and ending in Istanbul, you will explore some of the most beautiful cities in Europe: Strasbourg, Munich, Salzburg, Vienna, Budapest and Bucharest. The itinerary is broken up into comfortable train journeys, with nights spent in hotels along the way and time to see some of the most interesting sights at each stop. Perhaps you enjoy the freedom and relaxation of European train travel and this tour will appeal to you or perhaps you haven’t yet explored some of these interesting cities that were once behind the Iron Curtain. You will need to carry your bags on and off trains and through train stations so a good level fitness will be required.

Your tour manager is Andrew Matheson, a keen rail traveller who has explored widely in Europe and Asia by train.  He has travelled in all the countries visited on this tour, and has designed the itinerary to include many favourite destinations from his earlier rail journeys.

Andrew applies his organisational skills to make sure trips run to plan and deliver the best for all tour members.  He enjoys making tours a special and memorable experience for group members, and looks forward to sharing central Europe by rail with you.
