We have arrived in Juneau and disembarked this morning.
Our weather has continued to be absolutely marvellous and the scenery has therefore been extra brilliant with the white from the snow and the blues from sea and sky contrasting with the magnificent greens of the forests.
We have both had enjoyable kayak rides and several skiff trips enjoying the scenery and wildlife.
We continued to be spoiled by mother nature. Sightings of both brown and black bears, moose, and a whole pod of orcas. On Friday morning from a skiff, we were able to follow alongside a mother humpback whale and her calf for a full half hour. One night we even had an unexpected glorious sighting of the aurora borealis! Yesterday afternoon in Tracy Arm, our Calder & Lawson group of 13 in our own skiff with Hannah (one of the most knowledgeable and enthusiastic of our guides) had a full hour alongside the Sawyer Arm tidal glacier watching it “calve” several times.
Our on ship activities continued to be very appealing; the crew to be very enthusiastic and helpful, the meals great and our group and all the others on the ship had loads of fun.
And so to part two of our Alaskan adventure!!!
We are both very well and thoroughly enjoying our trip
