China’s Tiger Leaping Gorge – an Iconic Walk of the World
Our guide explained “our body is the motor which takes our spirit” – “Our spirit or soul is what we feel and experience – the excitement, the exhilaration!”
And so it was as the twenty of us set out for our overnight walking tour along the Tiger Leaping Gorge, climbing to 3200 meters above the famous raging Yangzte River below.
The excitement of treading where many had gone for many years and all the while locals followed leading horses offering a ride if in need. Above us towered the Dragon Mountain, where myth and legend dating to centuries and of the special place of the Dragon in Chinese society.
Local flowers dotted the narrow pathway, clinging to the barren side of the hill. From time to time we came to a resting place; smiling locals offered refreshments before reaching the summit and our overnight stay in a unique and enchanting teahouse. All twenty of us from our 40’s to our late 70’s celebrating with a cup of local tea and then a superb local meal. Just one life time experience from our Calder and Lawson China Walking Tour.
